## Overview
The Diverno are a unique and enigmatic race found within [[Aethros]]. They appear as small, whimsical beings whose existence seems tied to the fundamental balance, or imbalance, of the world. Often encountered unexpectedly, they serve as mysterious guides, messengers, or simply curious observers of mortal affairs.
## Nature & Role
* **Guides:** Diverno often appear to adventurers or those lost, offering cryptic advice, directions, quests, or pieces of lore. Their guidance can be helpful but is sometimes frustratingly vague or playful, much like the fey creatures of myth or beings like Moogles from other tales.
* **Whimsical & Cute:** They possess an almost childlike or fey-like demeanor, often described as cute, funny, and occasionally mischievous.
* **Detached Observers:** Despite their appearance and role as guides, they seem somewhat detached from the direct consequences of the world's struggles.
## Appearance
Diverno are small, fantastical creatures, easily recognizable by their paradoxical features that embody the core duality of Aethros:
* **Halo:** A distinct, often glowing **halo** floats above their heads..
* **Demon Wings:** Contrasting the halo, they possess small, functional **demon-like or bat-like wings** on their backs.
## Interaction Rules (Special)
Interacting with Diverno follows unique principles, reflecting their unusual nature:
* **Verbal Only:** Diverno can communicate verbally (often in surprising ways or languages) and can be spoken to.
* **Cannot Be Harmed:** They seem to exist slightly outside the normal physical laws of Aethros. **They cannot be targeted by attacks, spells, or abilities, nor can they be physically touched, grappled, or interacted with.** Attempts to do so simply pass through them or fail without effect. They are essentially invulnerable observers and communicators.
* **No Direct Combat:** Correspondingly, Diverno do not engage in physical combat themselves.
## Lore & Rumors
The origins of the Diverno are unknown, a subject of much speculation among scholars and adventurers:
